7 – Notes

I purchased an aftermarket Audi Side Assist kit from Aliexpress and i had this issue with the Side Assist LEDs on the mirrors.

Everything was working fine, except for the SWA \ warning LEDs in the side mirror caps.
As soon as i check the Byte 11 bit 4 = 1 [SWA] in the 52 or 42 front doors ecu modules, the “Side Assist malfunction” warning appears on the virtual cockpit, and there’s a fault code on the 52 and 42 modules:
196885 – Function Lightning for Lane Change Assistant LED Display
B1789 01 [009] – Electrical Failure

After some troubleshooting and advices, it turned out to be the aftermarket LEDs.

I purchased a couple of original ones (100€ for right and left one!) and it’s all working perfectly.

Note the differences between the chinese one, and the original one
